Greenmount, Redisher & Pilgrims’ Cross
It was perfect walking weather for our skix mile July Walk from Greenmount through Redisher Wood to Pilgrims Cross returning via Peel Tower and Redisher Wood. Taking the footpath behind the church onto the Golf Course we took the track to Holhouse Farm, then the flagged path to the main road, before going up Redisher Lane.
Through Redisher Wood we went up the steps on the left of the waterfall and across the bridge before bearing left to take an easier path through the woods and up to the top of the steps.
Here we turn left to follow the narrow high path above Redisher Wood to the first path off to the right, passing Bank Top Farm onto Moorbottom Road where we turned left. After going through the gate at the ruins of Clarke Tenement, we took the path off right uphill to the gate onto Holcombe Moor.
Turning left we followed the footpaths along the edge of the moor. Joining the path to Pilgrims’ Cross. Having our Coffee break at Pilgrim’s Cross.
Taking the stone flagged path from Pilgrims’ Cross, before going up White Hill where we stopped to look at the view.
After Harcles Hill we headed towards Peel Tower.
Leaving the Tower we walked past the Millennium bench to Moorbottom Road, passing the back of Hey House and through Hey House Mews.
We then joined a path in to the fields leading into Redisher Wood, and down Redisher Lane returning to the centre of Greenmount via Holhouse Farm and Holcombe Road.
